Poetry: Pieces

One of our readers, Lisa, submitted the following poem. She said she was inspired by being a mom to a two-year-old son –something many mothers can relate to!

Pieces

Pieces of a pen, including the spring

Parts of a flashlight, a phone that won’t ring

Bits of a bagel you ate yesterday,

A toy’s in the cd drive and now it won’t play.

All around me are pieces of things I once knew

Including my sanity; I’m missing that too.

I guess that’s just life when you have a two-year-old

It never is boring– these times are like gold!

  1. So true. Wonderfully expressed.

My baby just turned two yesterday. While it is hard to have life literally in pieces around me (as your poem illustrates), I wouldn’t trade her love and the opportunities for service that she has brought into our home, for anything!
