I was made Young Women President in our ward congregation right after we moved eight years ago. To say that the majority of the young women in our group had some issues was an understatement. After almost a year at the job I was feeling tired and discouraged. I was feeling like I was hitting my head against the wall and that nothing we were doing was having any positive effect or helping in any way.
I decided to refill my empty “tank” by attending Women’s Conference at BYU. I arrived at the opening session a little late. The women were singing the opening song in the opening session in the Marriott Center.
I entered the giant auditorium to these words from “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.”
He lives to comfort me when faint.
He lives to hear my soul’s complaint
He lives to silence all my fears
He lives to wipe away my tears.
He lives to calm my troubled heart.
He lives all blessings to impart.
I felt like they were singing right to me. I was filled with a spirit of peace that the Lord knew what was going on and that He accepted our efforts and wanted us to keep trying. I am reminded of that feeling every time I sing that song.
