PowerPoint presentations are not always set in stone. If information changes or you want to improve your slideshow, update your presentation. Quickly modify an existing PowerPoint presentation by adding, removing, or rearranging slideshow slides.
The instructions in this article apply to PowerPoint 2019, PowerPoint 2016, PowerPoint 2013, PowerPoint 2010, PowerPoint 2019 for Mac, PowerPoint for Mac 2011, PowerPoint for Microsoft 365, and PowerPoint Online.
Add a new slide in PowerPoint
If you want to add additional information to your PowerPoint presentation, add a new slide. Choose an appropriate layout for the new slide and fill in your information.
To add a new slide to a presentation:
Go to the slide you want a new slide to follow.
Choose Warm welcome.
Choose New slide to display a list of slides.
Choose the layout you want for the new slide.
Delete a slide
Sometimes the information in a presentation is no longer needed. If you no longer need a slide, delete it.
To delete a slide in a presentation:
Right-click a slide in the slides pane and select Delete slide.
To delete multiple slides, press and hold ctrl Key (command in Mac), Select and release each slide you want to delete ctrl or command Right-click and select Delete slides.
Move slides in slide area
If you need to quickly rearrange some slides in your presentation, use the Slides panel.
To move a slide in the Slides pane:
Select the slide you want to move.
Drag the slide to the new position.
A horizontal line appears as you drag the slide. When the horizontal line is in the right place, release the slider. The slide is now in the new position.
Move slides in slide sorter view
Sometimes a presentation needs a major overhaul. Use slide sorter view to rearrange slides in a presentation.
To use slide sorter view to move slides:
Choose See.
Choose foil sorter.
Select the slide you want to move.
Drag the slide to the new position.
A vertical line appears as you drag the slide. When the vertical line is in the right place, release the slider. The slide is now in the new position.
You can also delete slides in Slide Sorter view.
