The second highest level of danger
Hail, heavy rain and lots of lightning: Meteo Schweiz warns of further, even more violent storms in eastern Switzerland
The storms on Saturday night were just a taste. Federal meteorologists warn of further, more severe storms on Saturday night and Sunday. Mainly in eastern and southern Switzerland.

It was just a foretaste, the storms from the night before and an early Saturday morning in western and northwest Switzerland. A total of 60,000 lightning bolts have been counted nationwide and in neighboring countries, MeteoSwiss tweeted on Saturday:
Especially in western and northern Switzerland, the last night and early morning were sometimes strong and caused intense lightning #Thunderstorm dragged out. About 60,000 were born in Switzerland and neighboring countries #Lightning registered. ▶ Our scenes #Weather cameras. pic.twitter.com/24uj1erXUF

For its part, MeteoNews knows where the greatest number of lightning discharges was recorded on Saturday evening in Switzerland:
#Balance partly stormy second half of the night and morning: Over 2000 #Lightninglocally to nearly 20 liters #Rain per square meter and #dust locally to over 80 km / h! (RP) pic.twitter.com/fCo8A63iob

Viewed through the canton, Vaud (640 lightning), Baselland (344) and Bern (309) are all on the podium. At the bottom are Zug (5), Appenzell Innerrhoden (3), and Nidwalden (1). And rainfall amounts are up to 20 milliliters per square meter. Most rain fell at the stations Les Charbonnières (19.1 ml), La Dôle (16.4 ml) and in the city of Neuchâtel (13.1 ml).
New warnings for Saturday night and Sunday
But if federal meteorologists get their way, the risk of storms has yet to be banned. Especially in southern Switzerland, there is a risk of further thunderstorms, some of them even more violent, on Pentecost Saturday. And on the day of Pentecost itself, MeteoSwiss warns of hail, heavy rain and intense lightning strikes for eastern and southern Switzerland.

Therefore, on Saturday it announced a threat level of 3 (out of 4) for the areas affected within two days, as MeteoSwiss tweeted:
Federal Warning: Potential Thunderstorm. Threat level 3 (out of 4). Regions: Eastern Alps North Side, Ticino and Misox, further information and behavior recommendations at https://t.co/qjoYMzvqsA or MeteoSwissApp. #MeteoSwiss # Storm warning pic.twitter.com/HKEgk3i5vS

However, there are still no storm warnings on the federal natural hazard portal on Saturday afternoon the same day as Sunday.
However, the “substantial” storm warning issued by MeteoSwiss on Saturday is not a complete surprise. Over the past few days, meteorologists have already warned of unstable weather on the days of Pentecost. If you don’t want to go into details yet. (Saturday)
