Has he been kidnapped ?: The manager of an armaments company disappears without a trace after the tanks are handed out

This story is about Germany: The manager of the arms group Rheinmetall, which merged with the Swiss company Oerlikon Contraves in 1999, was found drunk last Sunday after being away for several days. What happened in the meantime to the man is not yet known. However, just a few days before his disappearance, it was announced that the German government would be delivering tanks from the Rheinmetall forge to Ukraine. The “Bild” newspaper informed about the case for the first time on Friday.

Thorsten Kutz (51) was last seen Thursday a week ago at the company’s Kassel site before disappearing without a trace. Colleagues were unable to reach him for four days. Last Sunday he was found in a car near the exhibition center. Police said he was heavily intoxicated and required treatment. According to the newspaper “Bild”, investigators have so far only been able to confirm that the 51-year-old had withdrawn money from an ATM in his absence.

As reported, among others Euronews, Rheinmetall has yet to comment. As all communications staff were at the joint event, a public announcement about the incident is not expected to take place until Monday, a TV spokesman said on Friday. The newspaper “Bild” therefore assumes the following assumptions: Kutz may have been an attractive kidnapping target for Russian agents due to his insider knowledge.
