Accordingly, 71-year-old Nancy Crampton Brophy could apply for parole after 25 years.

Crampton Brophy is known for a series of novels with meaningful titles such as “The Wrong Husband” and “The Wrong Lover”. The essay How to Kill Your Husband is about how a woman can get rid of her spouse without disturbing her in court. Among other things, he states that firearms are “loud, messy and require a certain skill.”

But that’s how she supposedly killed her husband. According to prosecutors, she shot the then 63-year-old’s heart twice in June 2018 at a cooking school where he worked as a cook to collect life insurance. She was in financial difficulties, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in insurance should enable her to lead a lifestyle that her husband could not offer her.

Crampton Brophy has denied all allegations. Video surveillance footage of her near the crime scene showed that she was only looking for inspiration for her books. She bought the missing gun – a murder weapon according to police – to investigate a novel that was never completed.

She also denied the motives for the accusation. She testified at the hearing that she was financially better with her husband than without him. Their financial problems have long been resolved. Her lawyers appealed the sentence.

Crampton Brophy on her blog about the motives and ways of getting rid of an unwanted spouse also wrote that every woman, every man is capable of it – “if agitated enough.” (SDA)
