Shortly after 6:30 PM on Sunday evening, two vehicles collided in a head-on collision near Mönchaltorf ZH. According to preliminary findings from the Zurich canton police, the 46-year-old driver traveled from Esslingen to Mönchaltorf. He ran left into an oncoming lane and collided with a correctly moving car.

The 46-year-old suffered serious injuries and had to be transported to a hospital with Regia. The prosecutor ordered him to have a blood and urine test. He traveled without a driver’s license.

A couple in a properly moving car – a 79-year-old woman and an 82-year-old man – were moderately injured and also had to be taken to hospital by ambulance.

In addition to the Zurich cantonal police, the See / Oberland prosecutor’s office, the Mönchaltorf fire brigade, the Regio 144 ambulance doctor, two ambulances from the hospital in Uster, an ambulance from the hospital in Männedorf, REGA and a private towage company were on duty.
