Companies with a good corporate culture can attract and retain talent. A recent Great Place to Work survey shows which employees are satisfied with their company. Over 34,000 employees were surveyed in the workplace culture survey. For the first time since the beginning of the Corona pandemic, Switzerland’s top employers were honored again on May 10 at a live event in Kaufleuten.
Spitex at the helm
UMB AG took first place in the Large category, employing over 250 employees. The IT company has already led the rankings in 2020, 2018, 2016 and 2014. In the medium category, employing 50-249 employees, Spitex Malters took first place. This is the first time a medical company has taken this position despite the challenges of the last few years of the pandemic. In the Small category, with 20-49 employees, the medical research company Alnylam Switzerland GmbH took first place.
Assessment of the credibility of managers
Famous Swiss employers such as Hilti Switzerland, IWC Schaffhausen, AbbVie, Zurich Canton Traffic Authority, 2 Globegarden, Decathlon and blue entertainment have also been named Best Workplaces.
For example, the credibility and role model of managers have been a key success factor for employee satisfaction. “We are observing the development from a culture of rules to a culture of values. Shaping all the challenges of the modern world of work by rules is not flexible enough anymore. Instead of being the only decision-makers and carriers of knowledge, good managers are increasingly characterized by a coaching and mentoring approach, ”says Cornelia Schättle of Great Place to Work. “Anyone who stubbornly wants to stick to the old world of work (such as an office presence) will lose employees,” says Michael Hermann, consultant at Great Place to Work.
