Climate activists in the UK taped themselves to picture frames at several museums. Just Stop Oil announced it wants to use the campaign on Wednesday to call on the art world to join “civil resistance” in the fight against climate change, UK news agency PA said on Friday.
In Glasgow, Scotland, activists taped to the frame of Horatio McCulloch’s 19th-century painting My Heart’s In The Highlands, which hangs in Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. It is also said that they sprayed the group’s logo on the walls and floor of the museum. Scottish police arrested several of the people involved – four women and one man between the ages of 20 and 31.
Glued to the frame of Van Gogh’s artwork
Activists who previously protested outside government buildings or oil terminals have caused a stir in London and Manchester in the last few days: at the Courtauld Gallery in London, they say, they stuck into the frame of Van Gogh’s work in Manchester to a painting by William Turner. The group urges the UK government to ban new oil and gas projects.
