This time around, AMMONYC’s Larry Kosilla had some fun making the gorgeous Porsche GT3 992 sparkle. An unusual model, but very hard to clean.
Throughout its history, Porsche has styled and made the dreams of millions of fans come true. The high performance GT3 line was launched in 1999 with 996 models.. The reasons that pushed the Stuttgart technicians to squeeze every horsepower out of the engine had to do with homologation for participation in the FIA GT3 Cup. In fact, throughout its history, the first GT3 marked an era in the national and regional Porsche Carrera Cup and GT3 Cup Challenge series, as well as in the Porsche International Super Cup in support of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.

The first GT3 was born to race, there were essentially no “road” elements. It was a bare and unfinished sports car, with no components to weigh it down. Through the rear seats, soundproofing, rear speakers, sunroof and air conditioning. What mattered was the standard flat-six engine with an integrated dry sump. Stuttgart has developed a special naturally aspirated engine based on the unit used in the Porsche 962 and 911 GT1. Racing cars were known in the paddock environment thanks to the Mezger, an engine created by designer Hans Mezger. The engine featured the original 911’s air-cooled universal dry sump crankcase with an external oil reservoir.
The 996 GT3 produced 360 hp. (265 kW) compared to 300 hp (221 kW) standard 996. A significant difference that immediately attracted the interest of fans. The GT3 engine was similar to the 962 engine, with full water cooling and the same crankcase. The difference is that the GT3, like the air-cooled and water-cooled 959, used two cylinder heads, each spanning a bank of three cylinders. Everything has been designed for maximum performance. The GT3 was released with a lowered and recalibrated suspension system, larger brakes, lighter wheels, and a new front bumper with a rear spoiler to increase downforce. Thus, the car was attached to the ground.
Five years later, in 2004, Porsche used the restyled 996 to launch the new GT3. Engine power was 381 hp. (280 kW) and 284 lb⋅ft (385 N⋅m) of torque, 80% of which was available at 2000 rpm. The GT3 used the body of the Carrera 4, but with completely different specifications. From 0 to 100 km / h, the car accelerated in 4.5 seconds, and a quarter mile was covered in just 12 seconds. Eminent driver and tester Walter Röhrl completed the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife in a new GT3 model in 7 minutes and 56 seconds, a heroic feat for the time the Stuttgart house used to advertise the supercar.

The fame of the car grew more and more. Porsche rode the wave, also introducing a version of the GT3, rebadged RS, that was even more track-oriented. RS stands for RennSport, literally “racing sport” in German. In 2006, Porsche introduced the 997 GT3 with a new 3.6-liter flat-six engine producing 415 hp. (305 kW). The performance was amazing. The car accelerated from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.1 seconds, and the maximum speed was 311 km / h. Three years later, an updated version appeared with an additional 20 horsepower and sensational options such as dynamic engine mounts and a pneumatically raised front axle to compensate for reduced ground clearance.
The 991 GT3 was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. More aggressive lines and a new 3.8-liter 6-cylinder direct injection (DFI) engine that produced 475 hp immediately caught attention. (349 kW) at 8250 rpm. The Doppelkupplung Dual Clutch Transmission (PDK) added rear wheel steering functions. The GT3 was able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and the quarter mile in 11.2 seconds at 203 km/h. In 2017, it’s the turn of the updated version of the 991.2 GT3 with amazing performance. For the first time, 500 hp was reached.
So here we come to the Porsche from Cosilla, the 992 GT3 launched on the market in February 2021. The 992 GT3 is equipped with an updated 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine producing 510 hp. (375 kW) at 8400 rpm and 470 Nm (347 lb-ft) of torque at 6250 rpm. The 992 GT3 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.. The rear wing features gooseneck trusses with more downforce than older GT3 models. It is the fastest car ever produced with a top speed of 320 km/h, a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission or a six-speed manual transmission.
The car in the video, bright red, needed a closer look. The gorgeous GT3 immediately needed a shampoo and a thorough cleaning with a special tool from the workshop. Although it may seem like a simple job, every single action requires the use of high-end equipment and a lot of experience. The technician used a vacuum cleaner to remove the accumulated dirt. Pay attention to the difficulty of removing stuck leaves. Then the car was raised and for true enthusiasts this is a great opportunity to take a closer look at the bottom. and to all aerodynamic appendages of the car. The perspective is very interesting, and Larry Cosilla showed all the details of the extreme supercar.
The work is done in the smallest detail, so as not to leave stone unturned. The goal is to make the GT3 shine like never before. The car’s red paint has been carefully chosen to bring the model back to its former glory. Cosilla master. Also explore the wash of this very old Mercedes. Another sensational case was the case associated with the washing of the legendary Lamborghini Countach, which had lain in the garage for 20 years. Note how Kosilla uses a grinder and then polishes the case. After prolonged treatment, we notice that GT3 under light has changed from the opacity we admired at the beginning. The Big Apple’s most famous technician was able to make a Porsche shine like it just left the Stuttgart factory. The before and after is not to be missed. At the end of the video, the gas will make you smile again. We leave you to watch the video without revealing other details.
